Shell to Acquire Mount Storm Wind Project in W. Virginia

Shell WindEnergy Inc., a major wind farm developer and operator in the US, plans to acquire NedPower Mount Storm LLC, the owner of the Mount Storm wind project in Grant County, West Virginia.

The acquisition is subject to governmental approval and other conditions. NedPower and Shell WindEnergy yesterday made a related filing with the West Virginia Public Service Commission. “Shell WindEnergy is looking forward to becoming a productive corporate citizen in West Virginia. The Mount Storm project will help to further diversify the Appalachian economy and bring the region clean, renewable energy,” said Milton Hernandez, Chairman of the Board of Shell WindEnergy.

Shell WindEnergy was established in 2001 and focuses on development, ownership and operation of large-scale wind farms in the United States. Shell WindEnergy is part of Shell Renewables, one of the five core businesses of the Shell Group, established in 1997 to pursue commercial opportunities in solar photovoltaics and wind energy. Shell Renewables is among the largest wind farm asset owners in the world and has stakes in about 740MW of operational capacity in wind projects across Europe and the United States.
