The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: HAIN – News) today announced the acquisition of Zia Cosmetics, Inc., including the Zia Natural Skincare brand, a leader in therapeutic products for healthy, beautiful skin sold mainly through natural food retailers.
In its last fiscal year, Zia Natural Skincare sales totaled less than $10 million in skin care, body care and cosmetics products. Zia Natural Skincare expands the premium skin care offerings of the Company in the fast-growing natural health and personal care products category.
Irwin D. Simon, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Hain Celestial Group said, “With the strategic acquisition of the Zia Natural Skincare brand our leadership position in natural personal care products in the United States and Canada is strengthened and expanded. Additionally, Zia Natural Cosmetics provides us with a platform into the fast-growing natural cosmetics category. Our strategy is to build the No. 1 skin care brand in natural and organic channels with a range of offerings from value-priced to premium-priced products.”
The terms of the acquisition, which closed on April 4, 2005, were not disclosed.
