Dynetek Industries Ltd. (TO:DNK),a leader in developing, producing and marketing lightweight compressed hydrogen storage cylinders and compressed natural gas (CNG) storage cylinders, announced Ford has selected it as supplier of on-board hydrogen fuel storage systems for their new hydrogen powered V-10, E-450 shuttle bus.
Dynetek is providing its certified 350bar (5000psi) storage solution for these hydrogen fueled internal combustion engines.
The Ford hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2ICE) 12-passenger shuttle bus is manufactured with a Ford E-450 cab and powered by a 6.8 litre Triton(TM) V-10 internal combustion engine, modified to run on hydrogen, rather than gasoline. Ford has also developed an eight passenger shuttle bus with a wheelchair lift. Ford is currently marketing to potential fleet customers and is poised for first deliveries in early 2006.
“We are honored to partner with Ford Motor Company in helping them bridge the fuel cell hydrogen economy with internal combustion engine solutions and thereby lead the way in adoption of low-emission and zero emission technology,” said Robb Thompson, Dynetek’s President and CEO. “We, along with Ford, believe that H2ICE vehicles will play a key role in justifying infrastructure development and accelerating a transition to a hydrogen economy.”
In addition to these ICE shuttle buses, Dynetek also previously delivered the fuel storage systems for on-board complete hydrogen fuel storage systems for Ford Motor Company’s 2004 Ford Focus FCV zero emission automobiles.
