HARTSVILLE, S.C. (July 21) — The president of Queens University in Charlotte, N.C., Pamela S. Lewis, is the newest member of the Sonoco Products Co. board of directors. “Sonoco is particularly pleased that Dr. Lewis has agreed to join our board of directors,” said Charles W. Coker, the companys board chairman. “She brings outstanding business acumen to our board, having served as dean of the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte prior to being named president in 2002.”
Lewis also was dean of the LeBow College of Business at Drexel University.
In other company news, Sonoco reported second-quarter net income of $35 million, or 35 cents per share, on revenue of $764 million. Those figures compare with net income of $22.8 million, or 24 cents per share, on revenue of $684 million for the second quarter of 2003.
