Hydrogenics Corporation (TSX: HYG; Nasdaq: HYGS), announced it has been contracted by the U.S. Navy's Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) – Crane Division to provide a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis refueler for their test facility in Crane, Indiana. NSWC Crane will take delivery of the unit in mid-March 2004.
"This is an excellent opportunity to help advance the concept of an appliance-based hydrogen infrastructure, with deployable and compact hydrogen production for the Military," said Pierre Rivard, President and CEO.
Hydrogenics will supply a fully integrated, compact HyLYZER refueler capable of producing and dispensing 2.0 kg of high purity compressed hydrogen gas per day. NSWC's purpose in this initiative, in addition to fulfilling the site's hydrogen needs, is to gain comprehensive experience with a deployable, compact hydrogen refueling system that includes electrolysis, compression, high-pressure storage and dispensing for special operations.
