natural gas use needs to be increased drastically so that your nicey-nice lifestyles can continue while this country transists to much higher use of renewables. It has an almost immediate payback by reducing greenhouse gases by almost half. Gas will give America the “bridge” to the next hundred years when renewables hopefully reign. Conventional gas, shale gas, new modular nuclear plants for base electric power,..they all must be supported in government energy plans if this country are to lead to a safe economic future without jeopardizing America`s key place in world trade and economics and stability. I`m in Alaska. Several of our smaller villages had to take donated heating fuel from Chavez` Venezuela! Alaska is sitting on the two largest conventional gas fields on the North American continent. We should at least be able to look and explore and ascertain the amount of resources in places like ANWR and NPR. Both places are thought to hold huge reserves of both oil and gas. They can be operated from just a few acres now using slant drilling techniques. The American economy needs to know where every available drop of gas and oil is that we could get to in a crunch. We are at war folks. The environment matters. But so does our eventual security as a healthy viable nation in the world. -an Alaskan.
WAKE UP! There is no “eventual security” without an “environment”. You want “A Healthy Viable nation” but since we are at “war” the place that sustains us and where we live (environment) takes a back seat. Brill!
I supported the election of the Republicans this time because of the naive acceptance of Al Gore’s propaganda, the potential impact of cap-and-trade and the gross politicization of a basic gas of life itself. Climategate, Himalayagate and now Carbon Isotopegate from the IPCC. Has anyone got their facts straight or are they just pulling out furphies to support a political agenda?
