As long as Georgia has soil, they can use geothermal heat pumps to draw heat (and cooling) from several feet below the surface. Georgia could also choose to become a leader in conservation. Georgia could become a leader in ecological farming and genetically engineered crops, for instance. There are so many ways that southern states could lead their northern and western brethren, it’s just a matter of picking the right ideas and running with them.
