McGraw-Hill is building the largest privately-owned, net-metered solar project in the Western Hemisphere on its campus in New Jersey.
The 14.1-megawatt (MW) solar system will significantly offset the need for other energy sources to run McGraw-Hill’s offices in East Windsor, including the Corporation’s growing data center.
The renewable energy produced by the project is expected to reduce the equivalent of about 10% of McGraw-Hill’s annual global carbon emissions and significantly lower the company’s long-term electricity costs.
The solar array is expected to produce 18 million kWh annually and create up to 300 solar power jobs.
NJR Clean Energy Ventures will construct the system.
Dow Jones Completes New Jersey Installation
Dow Jones & Company this week marked the completion of a large-scale solar installation at its headquarters, also in New Jersey.
The 4.1 MW system is one of the largest at a single corporate site in the U.S. It includes more than 13,000 solar panels covering nearly 230,000 square feet of parking space.
At peak performance, the solar installation will be capable of supplying half the entire facility’s energy needs. Over the course of the year, accounting for the hours when the sun isn’t bright or not shining at all, the system is expected to supply nearly 15% of those needs.
Dow Jones is financing the system in part through PSE&G’s Solar Loan Program.
