Mass Transit Ridership Is Up Significantly

Americans are starting to take more buses and trains, as gas prices climb higher and higher according to a report in the New York Times, which said ridership is up 10 to 15% in many metropolitan areas in the South and West.

Even cities like New York and Boston, where mass transit use is already widely established, have seen increases of 5%.

Chief executive of the Denver Regional Transportation District Clarence W. Marsella said the nation is at a tipping point, as transit systems in cities like Minneapolis, Seattle, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Francisco, Nashville, Salt Lake City and Charlotte are all seeing record numbers of riders.
