Position Overview:
ESA is offering a rare career opportunity for the right individual as Director of the firm's San Francisco Bay Area Renewable Resources group. This senior level position allows for continuing professional growth in the emerging sustainability market backed by experienced staff and long standing client relationships. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and dynamic senior level planner or scientist who will help build and lead a West Coast-based Renewable Resources practice.
Responsibilities:
Develop an expanded client base in the sustainability market
Leverage involvement in regional waste reduction and recycling
Lead proposal efforts and interviews
Generate new projects with existing clients
Participate in appropriate professional associations and conferences
Qualifications:
The qualified candidate should have experience working on a range of sustainability, conservation and environmental management projects and programs. The candidate should also have a strong working knowledge of federal and state climate change market and regulatory developments (including AB32), waste minimization and management (including AB939), the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and other laws and regulations applicable to resource management.
We will consider individuals with broad-based experience with California climate change issues, solid waste compliance, waste minimization and reduction programs, sustainability assessments and plans, climate action plans, LEED accreditation and certification assistance, and environmental management systems. Must have leadership capabilities, experience in marketing and business development, supervisory and mentoring skills, recognized technical and academic credentials, and strong writing and communication skills.
Requirements:
The qualified candidate will have 10-15 years of increasingly responsible experience in consulting and/or in a public agency. Requires at minimum a Bachelor's degree in environmental planning or environmental science, resource management or other related field. A Master's or other advanced degree is highly desirable.
The successful candidate could be based in our existing San Francisco, Petaluma, or Oakland offices.

Compensation: Competitive salary, 10-25% bonus (based on achievement of performance goals), 401(k), medical/health benefits, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) (annual contribution of up to 15% of salary).
