Flextronics (Nasdaq:FLEX) has entered into an agreement to produce solar modules for Germany’s Q-Cells SE (QCE.DE), one of the world’s largest solar cell producers.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Flextronics will dedicate 200 megawatts (MW) of the capacity at its Clean Tech Super Site in Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Malaysia, to the production of Q-Cells’ solar modules.
Nedim Cen, who replaced Q-Cells CEO and co-founder Anton Milner earlier this month, said the deal marked a "major milestone" in the positioning of the company and will help Q-Cells to expand its product range.
Q-Cells is in the middle of major restructuring after loosing more than a billion euros in 2009 on slumping prices for solar modules.
Production is already underway, with the first Q-Cells modules produced in mid-March.
