California Waiver Saga Continues

In June, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency granted California’s long-standing waiver request to carry out clean car standards.

But the saga, which began under the Bush administration in 2005, is not over. 

The National Automobile Dealers Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to review the EPA’s decision to allow California and 13 other states to adopt tougher standards for tailpipe emissions linked to climate change.

The EPA said in a statement it was “fully confident it will be found by the courts to be entirely consistent with the law.”
