A combined solar and wind farm is going up on 1500 acres northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona.
The solar/wind farm is going up in 10-20 MW phases. Combining the two technologies in an area that has both strong sun and wind resources allows electrical generation during most weather conditions while mitigating spikes in energy production.
The developer, GWS Technologies, based in Scottsdale, AZ, is working through joint ventures with landowners and investors. The electricity generated will be sold to end-users and utilities, allowing the company to participate in long-term power purchase agreement revenues.
